Just as his forefathers had laboured over scraps of ivory to create netsuke, he realised that Japanese industry could still offer the world something that embodied those same qualities of meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail. As industrialisation swept the country, Yairi became more focused than ever on a return to the aesthetic principles that make Japanese arts and crafts so desirable. He was later joined by his three younger brothers, who still work with 20 others at the rural Yairi factory in the village of Kani, making Renaissance lutes, vihuelas, classical and dreadnought steel string guitars. At 18, Kazuo started his own workshop devoted exclusively to building classical guitars. For this reason he refused to make electric guitars, though many beseeched him to do so. Guitar Demo: K Yairi WY-1 Acoustic Guitar. I fell in love with Yairi guitars several years ago, primarily because of their fine quality due primarily to Kazuo's impeccable craftsmanship. This one was made at his factory in Kani, Gifu, Japan, and the label is signed. His instruments are very fine, very close copies of Martins, and in my opinion the best of the Japanese acoustics.

I am unsure what the inlay is, and I can't say for that sure it looks quite like abalone. It has some sort of inlay around the top and sound hole like a Martin D, and a three piece back like a D, as you can see from the photos. Offered is a vintage K Yairi acoustic guitar.
